Why I Became a Chiropractor
I realized that I wanted to be a chiropractor when I was 10 years old. One icy winter, my classmates and I were playing football in the school parking lot. I fell on the asphalt and hurt my hip. I had a slight limp from the fall but otherwise felt OK.
Over the next few days I began to run a fever. When my temperature reached 104 to 105, my mother took me to the family doctor, who put me in the hospital for some tests. After telling him about the fall, and with the results of the blood tests ruling out any infection, x-rays of my back and hips were taken to check for dislocations. They didn't show any problem to the family doctor, but my fever was still quite high. I remember being packed in ice in an attempt to bring down my temperature.
Without any explanation for my problem, the family doctor told my mother to take me home, as there wasn't anything else he could do for me. My mother asked me what I thought we should do, and I suggested the chiropractor. (She had seen the chiropractor before for various aches and pains.) She agreed and made an appointment for me.
Well, when my hometown chiropractor heard the story and all that the MD tried for me, he decided to take an x-ray of my lower back with me standing up. That showed him where the problem was, and he was able to adjust the spine, and within a few hours, my fever was back to normal. It wasn't long after that when I decided to make Chiropractic my career. I guess that makes me a Chiropractic Miracle.
